Flake graphite is a non-metallic mineral with unique physical and chemical properties such as high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal shock resistance, high strength, good toughness, high self-lubricating strength, and strong thermal and electrical conductivity. The graphite series products are mainly used in industries such as metallurgy, machinery, electronics, batteries, chemicals, light industry, military industry, national defense, aerospace, refractory materials, etc. Flake graphite is an essential non-metallic material in modern high-tech.

What are the characteristics of flake graphite? Let's take a brief look together.

The flake graphite sheet is thin and has good toughness, excellent physical and chemical properties, good conductivity, thermal shock resistance, corrosion resistance, etc.

What are the applications of flake graphite? Let's take a brief look together.

    1. Refractory materials. Flake graphite is widely used as a structural refractory material and coating in the metallurgical industry, such as magnesia carbon bricks, crucibles, etc. Desulfurization promoters in the smelting industry, pencil leads in the light industry, carbon brushes in the electrical industry, electrodes in the battery industry, catalysts in the fertilizer industry, etc. After deep processing, flake graphite can also produce graphite emulsion, which is used for lubricants, release agents, drawing agents, conductive coatings, etc. This utility model can also produce expanded graphite as a raw material for flexible graphite products, such as flexible graphite seals and flexible graphite composite materials.

    2. Coatings. Flake graphite can serve as a functional filler for Chinese coatings, mainly including anti-corrosion coatings, fireproof coatings, and conductive coatings.

Anti rust primer is made of anti-corrosion materials such as carbon black, talc powder, oil, etc., which have good resistance to chemical and solvent corrosion; Adding chemical pigments such as zinc to the formula provides better rust prevention effects.

Expanded graphite is a graphite interlayer compound made from natural graphite flakes through chemical or electrochemical treatment, and is a fireproof filler. Under heating conditions, the expandable graphite rod rapidly expands in volume, suffocating the flame and generating expansion material, achieving the function of isolating the flame, delaying or interrupting flame propagation. It is also non combustible, has good flexibility, high surface energy, and good carbonization layer strength. However, it is necessary to choose an appropriate volume and amount of expansion material. Experiments have shown that 150um particles, 30% expansion factor, and 5% dosage are the most suitable.

The flake graphite rod can be directly used as a carbon conductive filler or can be made into a composite conductive filler for conductive paint. However, due to the large amount of graphite flakes added, the performance of the coating becomes brittle, which limits its application and development to a certain extent. Therefore, corresponding measures should be taken to further develop and improve the conductivity of graphite, and effective methods should be taken to reduce the amount of graphite flakes added. Tianhua Chemical Machinery Research Institute has developed a high-temperature corrosion-resistant resin as the substrate, with large graphite flakes as the main aggregate, which has strong electrostatic conductivity, high body strength, and good wear resistance.

A solvent-free thick film conductive coating with short cut fiber materials as functional fillers has good resistance to deformation and cracking. This coating has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, low residual stress, good resistance to matrix deformation and cracking, stable construction performance, and long-term electrostatic conductivity. In addition, it can also be used for electrostatic conductive coatings on the inner walls of crude oil storage tanks. According to data reports, using chemical plating technology to coat graphite powder with metals such as copper, nickel, silver, etc. to prepare composite conductive fillers, 30% of which is used in conductive coatings, not only has good conductivity, but also further improves corrosion resistance.
